Chronograph Welcomes New Marketing and Engineering Leadership

NEW YORK, December 13, 2023 — Chronograph, provider of the world’s leading portfolio monitoring solutions for private equity, today announced two key hires.

Fred Bower returns to Chronograph after completing an MBA at Columbia Business School and working across venture capital and growth equity. Bower was part of the founding team at Chronograph and previously led the firm’s growth team. He will now contribute to Chronograph’s global expansion as Head of Marketing.

At the same time, John Hatcher joins Chronograph as Director of Engineering, bringing a strong track record of engineering leadership, most recently at the edtech company Teachers Pay Teachers. He will play a pivotal role in advancing Chronograph’s mission to provide the private markets with cutting-edge portfolio monitoring technology.

Chronograph Co-Founder & CEO Charlie Tafoya remarked, “I am proud that we can attract top-tier talent like Fred and John to Chronograph. Fred was part of the founding team at Chronograph and has a unique understanding of our products and business. Meanwhile, John brings an impressive engineering background and will be a capable leader of our best-in-class technology team.”

Bower commented, “After studying venture capital and private equity at Columbia Business School over the last two years, one thing rings clearer than ever: great teams building real solutions are hard to come by. This is one reason I am so excited to rejoin Chronograph and support bringing its next-generation technology to the industry.”

Hatcher added, “I am thrilled to join Chronograph at such an incredible time in the company’s history. I bring with me nearly 15 years of experience building and scaling software systems across a diverse set of industries. I’ve been so impressed with the team’s integrity and focus thus far, and am looking forward to being part of their growth and continued success in bringing top-tier portfolio monitoring systems to our clients.”

Chronograph was founded in 2016 to bring differentiated technology solutions to the private capital market. The firm’s products help institutional limited partners and general partners – including many of the world’s largest private equity and venture capital investors – streamline and automate portfolio monitoring, valuations, analytics, and reporting. The firm is backed by Summit Partners, The Carlyle Group, and Nasdaq, Inc. Over the past year, Chronograph has doubled its headcount, opened up a new office in London, and launched a Snowflake connectivity-as-a-service data warehousing solution.
